About Laptop Screens

Laptop screens are made up of an LCD panel housed inside the lid. Some touch screen laptops have a digitizer glass over the LCD panel which requires care to be replaced. Other touch screens have the touch functionality built into the LCD panel itself (on-cell touch).

For many Apple laptops (MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air), the entire lid containing the screen needs to be replaced if the screen is broken, as screens are sometimes not available separately.

We supply and install high quality laptop LCD screens from leading brand name manufacturers, such as Samsung, AU Optronics, LG, BrightFocal and Chi-Mei.

Types of Laptop Screen

For most laptops, the following must be considered when replacing the screen:

  • Size (in diagonal inches) - for example: 13", 14", 15.6", 17"
  • Resolution (in pixels) - for example: 1920x1080, 1366x768
  • Touch screen vs non-touch and type of touch screen
  • Type of backlight - LED or CCFL
  • Connector position - for example: bottom left, bottom right
  • Connector type - for example: 30-pin eDP (most common), 40-pin LVDS, 40-pin eDP Touch, proprietary
  • Bracket type and position (for affixing to lid or hinges)
